Dimbo's Radar for the week of 11-05-11
My Goal with this News letter is to let you know what’s on my Radar this week in SWTOR. I hope you enjoy my thoughts.
1) This week's facebook image of the week via nothinggaming.com http://www.nothinggaming.com/home/m/1913843/article/412169
"The Senate on Coruscant has played host to countless diplomats from every corner of Republic space."
2) GUILD PHASE 3 article via swtor.com http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20111102
Guild phase 3 is "deployment" and it's live which basically means Bioware is reminding you to preorder the game.
3) Server types announced via swtor.com http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=10434480#edit10434480
What the majority of people had speculated from the beginning, PVE, PVP, RP-PVE and RP-PVP.
4) Revan Novel preview of Chapters three and eleven via nothinggaming.com http://www.nothinggaming.com/home/m/1913843/article/415280
Again I'm waiting for my copy to come in the mail, I was a little upset of the salel this week because I paid full price when it was first available for preorder lol.
5) The great people over at Republictrooper.com scored another Trooper heavy interview with Bioware's Georg Zoeller http://www.republictrooper.com/2011/11/04/once-more-unto-the-breach-general-georg-zoeller-shares-combat-directives-with-the-troops/
Great work guys your fellow troopers thank you!!
6) Friday update: Early Game access details revealed via swtor.com http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20111104-0
Early game access will stagger over 5 days, based on when you entered your preorder code.
7) Friday update: Imperial Agent character progression http://www.swtor.com/news/news-article/20111104
And once again we see (what I think is) a Jedi Knight getting pwned by another empire class.
8) Dimbo’s story continues at http://dimbotrooper.wordpress.com/ my fan fiction story about a trooper named Dimbo and his adventures in Star Wars the Old Republic. Subscribe and leave a comment and let me know what you think.
I hope everyone enjoyed this news letter! Also please remember nothing is permanent so anything read/heard/scene here is subject to change by Bioware/Lucasarts/EA. You can email me at dimbotrooper@gmail.com and follow me on twitter at @dimbo56 and @dimbotrooper

Why is the message about the problem being missed?
48 hours ago we were all told about Fan Summit II. People were told to email for details. It was believed (flawed in such a belief is understood) this was a chance to be a part of it. The response was basically, um no, we already selected those who were going to go. When questioned about this, the response was poor, defensive and in many cases offensive. This lead to counters of anger. For clarity people were told to listen to a Podcase featuring David Bass via Mos Eisley Radio (MER). So many flocked to this podcast to tune in. During this podcast, David Bass explained the 13 chosen were done so as they were relationships they (Bioware) wanted to continue to build a relationship with. Not a problem, while we may not like to hear that because we all want to be special and seen in that light it is the part that came next which sent fury into overdrive. Mr. Bass continued on to say for post launch success they (Bioware) believe those 13 selected sights are the anchor and direction they are taking for post game launch community building because the majority of the sites will have died off. No one sees the flaw in that statement or the slight felt by sites that are not one of the 13?
Had Bioware come out and said directly "We have chosen 13 sites after going through our options as our community building focus post launch, to represent and build further direct community relations" (or something to that light), people would have been upset and would have qq'd about it, but rationality would have set in and people would have understood.
It is NOT, I repeat NOT about who is going to the Fan Summit II. We are happy for those sites going. Sure there are those of us that believe they should have picked 13 sites that have never been (which is a separate issue). The main issue, the real source of all the anger is about how this was delivered in a one way, responded to and then redelivered. Next time just give it to us straight up with directness.
We are indeed a community and we will not always agree, but we all have the same focus: Deliver our view, comments and dedication to SW:TOR to our respective circles, the play the game and create the community we want to be a part of. That hasn't change, that wont change.
So I agree if you are upset you weren't asked to go, get over it. If you are upset about how this was delivered and responded to by our community leaders at Bioware, then you understand why I was upset. With that I ask those reporting on this issue to at least understand the issue before taking this whole "stop qq'ing because you can't go" stance.

4) Friday update: Bioware put all of the warzone videos on one page and made it all pretty http://www.swtor.com/info/systems/warzones
The main update was the Voidstar warzone video http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/voidstar-warzone
Very cool update but I'm hoping I can change the color on that Trooper armor! I'm going to go watch it again right now!

12 HOURS OF FLASHERMAN!!!!
This Thursday we are all going to be treated to 12 hours of Mash-Up Madness. So gather up your caffeine of choice and get your snacks together for the best 12 hours of your life.
When: Thursday, October 27th
Time: Start at 5pm EST
Where: http://www.tormonger.com/bootleg
If you are not there Flasherman will hunt you down and axe murder you. I believe he would do it too.
While we get 12 hours of Flasherman we also get a great project spear headed by the communities lovable Canadian (besides me) WeeMadAggie has organized the guilds of TOR into a Mash-Up Gaming night. We all are invited to hang out on the Frag Gaming teamspeak and party in other games like BF3, Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, and so on.
You can find all the details over at Torwars: http://torwars.com/2011/10/25/mashup-gaming-event-thursday/
On the TOR forums: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=562396
I want to see everyone out and having fun with the TOR community and everyone give Flasherman and Aggie a big hug and kiss when you see them!
Sad Panda News
and no not about the WoW Expansion. Although that sucks too.
We were informed here at the Bootleg offices, which is really a trailer in some backward southern town, that Two Tor Gamers and Some Microphones will no longer be airing on Bootleg and in fact they will no longer be airing at all.
I was very sad to receive the news that TTGASM will be ending their run after 25 Episodes. Blur and Blue have been with us since the beginning of our station and they are definitely our family. All of us here at Bootleg wish Blue and Blur the best in their future endeavours.

Auto DJ fixed !! - Our shows are back on schedule
First and foremost thank you all for hanging in there with us. It was at the very least frustrating to have the autodj pick and choose what it wanted to play. It caused issues with KBH (I mean really does it ALWAYS have to be KBH?). But the ending result is pretty exciting.
With the updated shoutcast, we are able to set "play lists" to play at particular times. This is huge because it means I don't have to necessarily work the show schedules around work and etc. I can set it up ahead of time and still have it play on time without more interaction which is great for me. Plus it will end, or should end, a ton of frustration about shows kicking off on time.
Until we have it where each show can upload their time slot, this is a great advancement.
The remaining shows not uploaded will be finished by Monday, the delays with the auto DJ moved that back as focus has to be switched.
Thanks all and the question is:
Do you have some Bootleg in ya?
Bootleg has problems with AutoDJ
We have received official notice there is indeed a problem with Auto DJ and as such ALL bootleg Radio shows that are not done live are affected. I am at this time working out a temporary fix while the problem is rectified by our shoutcast host. This may involve me doing the shows manually and I will keep you updated.
I apologize to all for the problems and I will be working diligently to fix it.
